Us semiconductor giant ONSEMI has decided to invest up to $2 billion in the Czech Republic to expand its production capacity for smart power semiconductors.

The investment will be used to upgrade the plant in Zrin, Czech Republic, to house the complete silicon carbide semiconductor production chain, mainly for the manufacture of key components in the automotive and green energy sectors.

It is expected that upon completion of the expansion project, On's Czech plant will significantly increase its daily production capacity and become an important production base for the company worldwide. In addition, the Czech government is expected to provide nearly 30% of the investment subsidy to further promote the smooth implementation of the project.

On's smart power technology products occupy a significant position in the global market and are widely used in electric vehicles, renewable energy and artificial intelligence data centers. This investment not only reflects on the accurate grasp of market demand, but also shows its determination to continue to innovate and expand market share.

Despite On's recent global business adjustments, this heavy investment in the Czech Republic has undoubtedly injected new vitality into the company's future development.
