Leading the industry! UMC unveils the most advanced 22eHV platform
2024-06-21 11:08:26
UMC announced on the 20th that it launched the 22-nanometer embedded high voltage (eHV) technology platform, which is the industry-leading display driver chip solution to promote the development of future advanced smart phone and mobile device displays. The new 22eHV platform increases performance and reduces chip size, helping mobile device manufacturers improve product battery life while providing a better visual experience.
To meet the growing demand for AMOLED applications in smartphones, UMC pioneered the 22-nm eHV platform, which reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to the 28-nm eHV process. The new Display Driver Chip (DDIC) solution features the industry's smallest SRAM bits, reducing chip area while speeding up processing and response times for high-resolution images.
Xu Shijie, deputy general manager of technology research and development at UMC, said that UMC has been a wafer foundry leader in the field of AMOLED driver chips since it started producing 28-nanometer EHVs in 2020.
With the launch of the 22eHV platform, UMC once again demonstrated its world-class eHV technical strength and commitment to supporting customers with a complete product route. In addition to 22 nm, UMC's development team is continuing to expand the eHV portfolio to FinFET processes in response to future trends in displays.
