Polymatech Electronics, India's first semiconductor chip maker, announced on August 5 that it has formally acquired Nisene Technology Group Inc., a U.S. company. The acquisition was made by Artificial Electronics Intelligent Materials Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Polymatech based in Singapore. Execute. Ryan Young, Nisene's incoming CEO, said the acquisition complements Polymatech's cutting-edge product portfolio and drives the development of new products.

Nisene has been in operation since the 1970s and is known for its ics on silicon (Si) and silicon carbide (SiC) wafers. Nisene's expertise in Si and SiC materials, combined with Polymatech's sapphire-based semiconductor technology, will help the latter become a multi-wafer company.

Polymatech is also looking for international partners with a view to becoming a fully integrated semiconductor company. In addition to the planned acquisition, the company also announced a partnership with an undisclosed European tool supplier that will supply the Polymatech Group with the latest sapphire and SiC wafer technology.

Earlier this year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan's Orbray. Under the agreement, Orbray will supply sapphire ingot growth technology, with installation expected to be completed by March 2025.
