According to the latest research of TrendForce Consulting, due to geographical issues and economic impact, consumers tend to be conservative in budget allocation, and it is estimated that the global notebook computer shipments will reach 173.65 million units in 2024, an increase of 3.7% from 2023, and the replacement demand is mainly concentrated in the entry-level consumer market and the education market.
TrendForce Consulting said that although the industry has launched high-profile AI laptops in the second half of 2024, but the high price may delay consumer procurement, so it is expected to see the real contribution of AI models to the supply chain in 2025, when the global pen shipments are expected to increase by 5% annually driven by business replacement demand.

The global supply chain landscape has changed significantly in recent years, due to the rising geography and labor costs, laptop brands have sought to diversify the supply chain layout, and these manufacturers have gradually shifted the production chain layout to Vietnam and Thailand. Both countries have attracted significant investment because of their low labor costs, improving infrastructure and growing domestic markets.
TrendForce Consulting said that under the active layout of Dell and Apple, the share of notebook computer contract manufacturing in Vietnam is expected to increase to 6% in 2024. Although Thailand is a rising star, with the close cooperation between HP and Quanta in the local area, and Inventec will join the production ranks in the second half of the year, it is expected that Thailand's global production share will quickly climb to 2.3%.
TrendForce Consulting predicts that the proportion of global pen supply chain transfer will increase to 12.4% in 2024. Global notebook computer production is moving towards a more diversified and flexible direction, in a complex international environment, how to flexibly respond and adjust the supply chain strategy to remain competitive, will be the main challenge for notebook computer brands.
