Apple's services division recently announced about 100 layoffs, with the e-book team hit hard. According to Bloomberg, several teams in the services division, led by senior Vice President Eddy Cue, were affected, especially the Apple Books and Bookstore teams were the most severe layoffs, and some people were also cut in the Apple News team.

The move reflects a shift in Apple's focus, with e-books seen as non-core. However, the ebook App will continue to be updated. Although the Apple News team has changed, its service has not diminished in importance.

Apple layoffs are rare, but previous changes to Apple Car and Micro LED programs have affected some employees. Despite the challenges, Apple's services revenue has continued to grow strongly, reaching $24.2 billion at the end of June, up 14.1% year over year. With the launch of Apple Intelligence in the fall, services revenue is expected to reach new heights.
